Veterinary Clinical Resources is a biotechnology company providing custom biologics production services in various species, including but not limited to rabbits, mice, goats, sheep and donkeys. Founded in 1987, VCR holds USDA Class R Research Facility Registration #74-R- 0156, USDA Class A Breeding Facility #74-A- 1526, and adheres to applicable animal welfare guidelines.
VCR provides antisera and affinity purified antibodies which are used in the manufacture of diagnostic test kits and as molecular biological reagents. We have experience with viral, bacterial, parasite and various protein/peptide antigens, and have successfully produced high titer antisera to these antigens. VCR can provide inactivated bacterial and fungal cells and antigens via liquid and solid culture techniques.
VCR is located near Lexington, Texas (40 miles from Austin) and has pasture for 50 large animals (goats, sheep, donkeys, etc). Rabbit facilities, capable of housing 300 animals, consist of fully enclosed metal structure with individual caging for each rabbit. Constant fresh air is supplied by a forced air system which supplies 8 air changes per hour and maintains interior temperature at or below USDA requirements. A constant supply of fresh water is provided by an automated water system. Veterinary care is provided by local veterinary service.
Our Story
Robert Glass started VCR as a way to develop custom antibodies for his own veterinary diagnostic testing company. Experience has shown that many of the large scale antibody companies charge too much or do not have the time to make small amounts of antibody. VCR caters to companies of all size, as well as projects of all size.

Robert Glass
Founder, Owner
Mr. Glass served as the director of laboratories for the University of Texas Science Park, Veterinary Division, Bastrop TX; Director of Research and Development for Research Biogenics Inc. Bastrop TX; President of BioMedical Services Austin TX; and founder, owner and CEO of Pan American Veterinary Labs, Lexington TX as well as founder of Veterinary Clinical Resources. He has been involved in veterinary diagnostics and immunology for 40 years with emphasis on diagnostic test development. The creation of custom antisera and antigens for his own projects led to offering these services to others via VCR. As the founder and past owner Mr. Glass continues to be intimately involved in the day to day activities of VCR.
Travis Glass

Travis started assisting in the lab and animal facility at a very early age and became proficient at giving injections and collecting blood sample as well as animal care. After finishing college in 2005 he became facility manager and was on site to manage construction of a new 6000 square foot laboratory and rabbit facility. In 2017 he took over ownership of VCR and now personally oversees scheduling of projects, animal care, facilities management and USDA compliance. As the owner of VCR moving forward, he looks forward to meeting and working with new clients to provide the reagents you need. VCR has produced antibodies and reagents for some of the largest companies involved in diagnostic manufacturing and research such as Thermo Fisher, Alere, Binax, Ambion, Life Technologies and others.
